Looks like the Canadian SailGP team has secured a new ownership. It’s about time, considering following the announcement of the Brazilian SailGP team at the New York Regatta press conference last season, SailGP CEO Russell Coutts, said in an interview that the future of the team would rely heavily on its ability to secure a new ownership.

Until recently, the Canadian SailGP was owned almost entirely by the league, putting the team at risk of being pulled from the season five lineup. Now with new ownership, it begs the question of the other teams’ ability to remain in the league as the future of the league spawns the interest and entrance of new teams.

Canadian biotech entrepreneur Dr. Greg Bailey has acquired the Canada SailGP Team to maintain its presence in the international sailing league.  Additionally following the announcement of new ownership, the Canadian SailGP team also announced, that Phil Robertson will be replaced by former Emirates GBR driver Giles Scott.
