Protecting the Integrity of American Government

Mr. Speaker,

There are individuals who enter American politics not to advance the interests of the United States, but to promote the interests of foreign nations, foreign movements, or foreign causes. That reality should concern every American, regardless of party affiliation.

Diversity is not the issue. America has long benefited from the contributions of people from every corner of the world. The issue arises when elected officials place loyalty to foreign interests above loyalty to the American people.

We proudly declare that America is the greatest nation on Earth and the world's leading superpower. Yet we often fail to ask whether those entrusted with public authority are fully committed to advancing American interests first.

In doing so, we have created vulnerabilities within our own institutions. We have allowed ideological movements, foreign influences, and competing national loyalties to gain a foothold where the interests of the United States should remain paramount.

Previous generations recognized these risks and took steps to safeguard our republic. If we refuse to adapt and enact meaningful reforms—including, where necessary, constitutional amendments—we may find ourselves unable to withstand the challenges that lie ahead.

The preservation of American sovereignty requires vigilance, accountability, and a renewed commitment to placing the interests of the United States above all others.

I yield my time.
