Russell Coutts, SailGP CEO, announced the formation of the Brazilian Sail GP team for Season Five, highlighting Brazil's impressive tally of 19 medals. Coutts also confirmed that only eleven out of the current twelve teams will compete in the upcoming season. Those at risk of exclusion are teams still reliant on partial funding from the SGP league: Canada, France, Spain, or New Zealand.

New Zealand: Burling has consistently proven himself as a star helmsman within the league. The outcome of the New Zealand race could sway Coutts in their favor for Season Five, especially given his reluctance to bring SGP back to New Zealand following the Dolphin issue that made local news and drew wildlife experts' attention to regattas. However, New Zealand's numerous podium finishes in the Grand Prix speak volumes about their performance as a top contender.

France: Thus far, France has delivered a relatively average performance. Delapierre, a phenomenal helmsman, has capably led the French team across both the previous and current seasons.

Spain: The Spanish team has excelled this season, transforming from underdogs to consistent performers. Their top-five to low-five performance ratio has caught the attention of fans, investors, and potential sponsors alike.

Canada: Since competing in Canada, the team has exhibited a heightened defensive strategy. Their bold maneuvers during the Canadian leg, coupled with a newfound rivalry with the US team, showcased an impressive performance level.
